Projects and workspaces

How organizations, offices, and projects fit together, plus your personal workspace and member roles.

ePlan.ai organizes everything into a three-level hierarchy. Understanding it makes it clear where your projects live and who can see them.

The hierarchy

  • Organization — the top-level container, such as a government agency.
  • Office — a division within an organization.
  • Project — the unit of work, living inside an office.

Your personal workspace

Every user gets an automatically created personal workspace: your own organization and office. This is where new projects always start — they are created there as drafts, never directly inside a government organization.

When a project is ready, it can be submitted to a government organization for review. That review destination is separate from the personal workspace where the project was created.

Switching between workspaces

The sidebar includes an organization and office switcher. Use it to move between your personal workspace and any other organizations or offices you belong to. Outside of a project, the sidebar shows your list of organizations; inside a project, it shows the project's fixed feature modules.

Members and roles

Membership applies at each level of the hierarchy, and each member has a role:

  • Owner — full control, including managing members.
  • Editor — can make changes to the project's content.
  • Viewer — read-only access.

Roles inherit downward: a role granted at the organization level carries into its offices and projects. You manage who has access — and at what role — from the Members view of a project, office, or organization.

Timeline

Each project has a Timeline — a read-only activity log of changes across the project over time. It records what happened and when, so you can see a project's history at a glance. There's nothing to act on here beyond viewing; it's a reference for tracking how a project evolved.
