Comments and engagement

Project comments with threaded replies, public and private visibility, and AI auto-responses for citizen engagement.

Comments give a project a place for discussion — both internal notes among the team and public engagement with citizens on the catalog.

Threaded comments

Comments are scoped to a project and support one level of threading: people can reply to a top-level comment, but replies don't nest further. This keeps a conversation readable as a top-level comment plus its direct replies, rather than an ever-deepening tree.

Public and private visibility

Each comment carries a visibility flag:

  • Public — the comment appears on the project's page in the public catalog, where anyone browsing can see it.
  • Private — the comment stays internal and is only visible to people working on the project.

Use private comments for internal team discussion, and public comments for anything meant to be part of the project's public record.

AI auto-responses

On public catalog project pages, comments can receive an automatic AI response. When a citizen leaves a comment, the system can post an automated reply under a configurable responder name — for example, an acknowledgment on behalf of the government office. This lets citizen comments get a timely response without a staff member replying to each one by hand.
