Map and boundaries
Upload a project boundary and optional units layer, then view them on the project's interactive map.
The Map module gives a project a spatial footprint. You upload boundary data, and the project shows it on an interactive map you can pan and zoom.
What you can upload
The map accepts two file formats:
- Zipped shapefile — a standard
.zipshapefile bundle. - GeoJSON — a plain GeoJSON file.
Other formats (such as KML or GPX) are not supported — upload your boundary as GeoJSON or a zipped shapefile.
Two kinds of layers
A project's map is built from two distinct layer types:
- Project boundary — the outer footprint of the project area.
- Units boundary — a finer breakdown of individual units within that area.
Adding layers
Adding boundaries is a short two-step flow:
- Pick or upload the project boundary. Start by choosing the layer that defines the project's overall area.
- Optionally add a units layer. After the boundary is in place, you can add a units layer. The system can auto-detect a unit layer and match its features to the boundary using a unit-ID key field, so each unit lines up with the right area.
Once your layers are added, they render together on the interactive map, where you can view the project boundary and its units in context.
