Caldor Fire Restoration Project
The Caldor Fire Restoration Project is a large-scale post-fire restoration effort within and adjacent to the 2021 Caldor Fire burn area across three ranger districts of the Eldorado National Forest (Amador, Pacific, and Placerville). The project proposes fuel treatments, reforestation, salvage timber sales, species habitat improvements, watershed improvements, and recreation site management across Alpine, Amador, and El Dorado counties. It was analyzed under NEPA as an Environmental Assessment using 2021 Infrastructure Emergency Actions authority, with Phase 1 decision signed March 25, 2025 and the Maximum Extent Scenario decision signed December 12, 2025.
